Methodology with ZHAW & NZZ · Founder Outcomes as primary dimension · 93+ Swiss hubs pre-listed

There is no single Hub Selection.
There are four.

A pre-incubator helping students develop ideas does something fundamentally different from a venture builder that co-founds startups. That is why we create four independent rankings — with the same methodology, but calibrated to the reality of each hub model.

No cross-type comparison. A Diamond Accelerator is a Diamond Accelerator — not "better" or "worse" than a Diamond Incubator. Both are at the top of their discipline.

Hubs are assigned by programme format. Rankings launch once 20+ members per discipline are recorded. Hybrid hubs apply the 60% rule to determine their primary category.

Four concrete levers.
No marketing promises.

The Selection delivers measurable advantages for hubs — not just "visibility". Here is what you actually get.

Higher-quality applicants

Swiss founders filter by programme type, sector, and stage — and find you directly. Higher match quality in your pipeline, less time on pre-screening.

→ Stronger cohorts, lower drop-out rate

Verified Selection Badge

Silver, Gold, Platinum, or Diamond — as a quality signal for investor pitches, sponsor acquisition, public funding applications, and hub communications. NZZ-ZHAW validated.

→ Differentiation from 90+ other hubs

Founder impact documented

Self-declarations are interchangeable. Anonymous founder feedback from your cohorts makes the real impact of your programme visible — for Innosuisse reviews, cantonal funders, and foundation applications.

→ Substance for funding pitches

Detailed programme report

Annual report with your position per dimension — including concrete indications of where your programme excels in peer comparison and where there is room for improvement.

→ Data-driven programme iteration

30% of your score comes directly
from your alumni founders.

Glossy brochures can be produced. Founder experiences cannot. That is why we weight anonymous alumni feedback more heavily than any other data source.

SHEET B SURVEY  ·  ANONYMOUS  ·  AGGREGATED
You submit up to 8 alumni — 4 are independently reviewed.

You list up to 8 alumni from your recent cohorts. We contact them with a standardised 12-item survey. At least 4 completed reviews are required for a Selection Status — if fewer are returned, your profile is marked "Provisional". This means even smaller hubs can qualify as long as 4 alumni respond.

How did your fundraising situation change during/after the programme?
Scale: significantly worsened → significantly improved  ·  measures investor access impact
2
Did the programme open doors to specific investors, customers, or talent?
Scale 1–10  ·  measures network impact beyond "events"
3
Was the consideration (fee/equity) fair for the value received?
Scale 1–10  ·  measures value-for-money — critical for equity programmes
4
Did this programme change the trajectory of your startup?
Scale 1–10  ·  the most honest outcome indicator
5
Would you recommend this hub to other founders at your stage?
NPS-style: 0–10  ·  the Net Promoter Score for hubs

The complete survey instrument (12 items) is available in the methodology documentation. Bias protection via trimmed mean and plausibility cross-checks against the alumni list.

Calibration per discipline — same weights, different thresholds

The five dimensions and their weightings are identical for all four disciplines. But the bucketing thresholds are calibrated per discipline, because a "large accelerator" has different metrics than a "large pre-incubator". A venture builder pursues equity returns; a pre-incubator fosters idea maturity — both must be measurable fairly.

Track Record · Acceleration: Top startup ≥ CHF 10M funding = 10 pts
Track Record · Pre-Incubation: Top idea leads to formal founding = 10 pts
Substance · Acceleration: 8/9 services active = 10 pts
Substance · Venture Building: 6/9 + equity engagement = 10 pts

Four tiers — earned,
not purchased.

These four tiers apply independently in each hub discipline. A Diamond Accelerator and a Diamond Incubator are both at the top of their respective rankings — not compared with each other.

Nothing is published without your explicit consent. You receive a private, detailed breakdown showing exactly which dimensions to improve — and you can reapply after 6 months. Many hubs use the first result as an internal development roadmap before going public.

You control
what goes public.

Hub data is handled with the same rigour as startup data. You decide what is published — and you can withdraw at any time.

What we do
  • Publish only your Selection Status and badge (with your consent)
  • Aggregate all founder feedback — no individual reviews visible
  • Store your data on Swiss servers, DSG & GDPR compliant
  • Allow you to update non-scored profile fields at any time
  • Delete your entire profile within 48 h upon request
What we never do
  • Publish individual founder survey responses
  • Share your raw self-assessment with third parties
  • Sell or license your data to investors or partners
  • Publish a score below the Silver threshold without consent
  • Use your data for advertising or profiling purposes

What hubs
ask most often.

Your profile will be marked as "Provisional" — without a Selection Status. You will receive a private report showing your self-assessment and expert scores, but no public badge is issued. You can submit a new alumni list and reapply at any time. Since you choose up to 8 alumni to submit, you have some control over who is contacted — but we recommend listing alumni who genuinely engaged with your programme.
No — and that is intentional. Both are Diamond-ranked within their own discipline. There is no cross-type comparison. A Diamond Pre-Incubator is at the top of the Pre-Incubation ranking; a Diamond Accelerator is at the top of the Acceleration ranking. They are not ranked against each other.
The founder survey includes a specific item on value-for-money (fee/equity vs. value received). Equity-based models are not penalised — they are assessed on whether founders perceived the equity as fair given the support received. The bucketing thresholds for venture builders are calibrated accordingly.
Apply under your dominant format — the one that accounts for 60% or more of your programme activity. If you genuinely operate two distinct programmes at scale, you may apply separately to both disciplines. Contact us if you are unsure which category applies.
Track Record is only one of five dimensions (25%). Hubs with younger portfolios can still achieve strong scores through high Founder Outcomes ratings, strong Programme Substance, and good Ecosystem Standing. The bucketing thresholds are calibrated to be fair for hubs at different stages of maturity.
Sheet C draws on a panel of experienced Swiss ecosystem practitioners — investors, coaches, and programme directors — selected and vetted by the editorial team. They are asked to rate hubs they have direct experience with. Reviewers sign a strict NDA and cannot rate hubs in which they have a financial interest.
Expert reviewers are not asked to compare hubs against each other — they rate only hubs they have direct, positive knowledge of. Ratings from reviewers with potential conflicts of interest are excluded. The editorial team applies plausibility checks and outlier detection before any expert scores are included in the final calculation.
